MGM Grand

MGM Grand Las Vegas is one of the biggest hotels on the Strip: a green tower at Tropicana Avenue with KÀ, a 15,200-seat arena, a huge pool complex and the Monorail's southern station.

A sense of the place

MGM Grand Las Vegas opened on December 18, 1993, and when it opened it was the largest hotel in the world by room count. More than 30 years later it is still one of the biggest resorts in Las Vegas, known for its green glass towers and one of the largest casino floors in the city, at about 171,500 square feet. A $300 million remodel of the rooms and suites in the main tower was finished in 2025, so most rooms you book in 2026 are freshly redone.

It sits at 3799 Las Vegas Blvd S, on the corner of Tropicana Avenue at the south end of the Strip. New York-New York and Excalibur are across the boulevard, and the site of the old Tropicana, imploded in October 2024, is across Tropicana Avenue, where the Athletics' ballpark is being built for a planned 2028 opening. MGM Resorts runs the resort, and VICI Properties owns the real estate.

MGM Grand suits people who want a big, busy resort with a lot under one roof: an arena, Cirque du Soleil, nightlife, pools and the start of the Monorail at the back door. It is less suited to anyone who wants a short walk to their room. Distances inside are long, and the center Strip is a ride or a long walk away. See the Strip hotels in order to get your bearings.

What to look for

  • KÀ by Cirque du Soleil: KÀ has played MGM Grand since 2005. Tickets are on sale into 2027, with shows five nights a week (dark Wednesday and Thursday).

  • MGM Grand Garden Arena: a 15,200-seat arena that has hosted big concerts and famous boxing matches. Check the calendar before you book your dates.

  • Now You See Me Live: a magic show based on the films runs in the MGM Grand Theater from October 15, 2026 to January 5, 2027. It took over the room after David Copperfield ended his 25-year residency on April 30, 2026.

  • Pools and Palm Tree Beach Club: the resort opened with a pool complex of about 144,000 square feet. Palm Tree Beach Club, a dayclub from DJ Kygo's Palm Tree Crew and Tao Group, replaced Wet Republic in 2025.

  • Nightlife: Hakkasan has been MGM Grand's big nightclub since 2013.

  • The Signature: The Signature at MGM Grand is a trio of condo-hotel towers behind the main resort, a quieter option on the same property.
