A sense of the place
New York-New York Las Vegas opened on January 3, 1997, as a joint venture of MGM and Primadonna Resorts, and it cost about $460 million to build. The resort recreates a compact version of Manhattan, with a 47-story Empire State Building replica that stands 529 feet tall, a 150-foot Statue of Liberty replica at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, and a roller coaster that loops around the towers. It has 2,024 rooms and a casino of about 51,765 square feet.
The address is 3790 Las Vegas Blvd S, on the south end of the Strip. MGM Grand and Excalibur are next door, and T-Mobile Arena and Park MGM are close by. MGM Resorts operates the property and VICI Properties owns it.
It suits people who want a South Strip hotel with a strong theme, a roller coaster and plenty of casual food, without the long walks of the biggest resorts. The resort has never had a buffet, and Cirque du Soleil's Mad Apple closed there in September 2026, so check what is open before you plan an evening. For the other big resorts nearby, see the Strip hotels in order and Luxor at the far south end.
What to look for
The Big Apple Coaster: the coaster runs 4,777 feet of track up to 203 feet high, with a 144-foot drop and a top speed of about 67 mph. It opened with the resort as Manhattan Express, and the trains are styled like New York taxis.
Big Apple Coaster price and height requirement: a ride is about $25 before tax, a same-day re-ride is about $10, and a Scream Pass for unlimited rides is about $65. Riders must be at least 54 inches tall without footwear. Check current prices before you go.
Statue of Liberty and the skyline: the 150-foot Statue of Liberty replica stands over a fireboat lagoon at the Strip corner. The Empire State Building replica was the tallest building in Nevada until Wynn Las Vegas opened in 2005.
Village Street Eateries: the food court is styled as Greenwich Village streets with brownstones. It lists Greenberg's Deli, Sirrico's Pizza, Fulton's Fish Frye, Village Bakery, Greenwich Coffee and Lucky Pig.
Sit-down food and bars: Gallagher's Steakhouse, Il Fornaio, Chin Chin, America, Nine Fine Irishmen and Tom's Watch Bar were all listed in a May 2026 guide.
The Park and T-Mobile Arena: Beerhaus is by The Park, the outdoor district between the resort and T-Mobile Arena. The plaza outside the arena was renamed Paramount+ Plaza (formerly Toshiba Plaza) in September 2026.
Mad Apple has closed: Cirque du Soleil's comedy-and-acrobatics show ended its run at New York-New York on September 5, 2026, after more than 1.2 million guests. No replacement has been announced.
