Inside this story

Vegas after dark is its own city. The marquees light up, the shows start, and the Strip gets louder with every hour. The range of Las Vegas shows is huge, from water-filled Cirque stages to comedy, magic, and the glowing Sphere. Then there are the clubs, lounges, and late-night eats that keep the night going until sunrise.

The secret to a great Vegas night is geography. Shows, clubs, and restaurants are spread across a four-mile Strip, and crossing it at 11 p.m. on a Saturday is slow. Before you book anything, check where each venue sits on our Las Vegas Strip map with every hotel and casino in order.

One rule throughout this guide: schedules, lineups, and ticket prices change all the time, so check current info on official sites before you buy.

How a Vegas Night Usually Flows

Most great Vegas nights follow a loose rhythm. You do not have to follow it exactly, but knowing the shape helps you book things in the right order.

Here is how a typical big night out plays out, from dinner through the late-night snack.

A few things to notice:

  • Dinner comes early. Many shows start in the early or mid evening, so eat first or plan a late meal after.

  • Clubs start late. Big clubs often do not get busy until well after midnight.

  • There is a gap. Between the show and the club, a lounge, a casino stroll, or a fountain show fills the time nicely.

Best Shows in Vegas Right Now

The best shows in Vegas tend to be the long-running productions built specifically for their theaters. Here is a quick overview, then more detail below.

Cirque du Soleil Shows

Cirque is the backbone of the Strip's show scene. "O" at Bellagio is set on and around a giant pool, with performers diving, swimming, and flying overhead. "KÀ" at MGM Grand tells an action-heavy story on a stage that tilts and rotates. "Mystère" at Treasure Island is one of the original Vegas Cirque shows and has a playful, whimsical feel. "Michael Jackson ONE" at Mandalay Bay is a high-energy tribute built around his music, and "Mad Apple" at New York-New York brings Cirque's style to a New York-themed night with comedy and music.

One update for returning visitors: The Beatles LOVE closed along with The Mirage in July 2024. The Mirage is being rebuilt as Hard Rock Las Vegas, so check current status if you are hoping for a Beatles-themed night.

Comedy, Magic and Something Different

Absinthe at Caesars Palace is an adults-only mix of jaw-dropping acrobatics and very cheeky comedy, performed in a small tent with the audience close to the action. Penn & Teller at the Rio, just west of the Strip, is a smart and funny magic show from one of the longest-running acts in town. Blue Man Group at Luxor is a colorful, family-friendly option full of music and paint.

The Sphere Experience

The Sphere sits just east of the Strip near the Venetian, and you have probably seen it on social media. Its exterior is covered in programmable lights that make it look like a giant eyeball, a planet, or an emoji, depending on the night. Inside, a wraparound screen and immersive sound system host films and concerts.

Because the screen wraps so far around and above you, seat location matters more than at a typical theater. Read the venue's seating guidance before you book, and give yourself extra time to arrive, since security lines and crowds build before big events. The Sphere connects to the Venetian area by a pedestrian bridge, so it pairs nicely with dinner at the Venetian or Palazzo.

Even if you do not go inside, the Sphere is a highlight of the nighttime skyline. You can see it from many spots along the center and north Strip. If you do want tickets, check current schedules on the official site, since events and residencies change often.

Las Vegas Nightclubs and Dayclubs

Las Vegas nightclubs are known for big-name DJs, elaborate production, and late, late nights. Lineups and dress codes change often, so always check before you go.

Some of the best-known clubs include:

  • Omnia at Caesars Palace, famous for its dramatic chandelier and center Strip location.

  • XS at Wynn, a glamorous favorite on the north Strip.

  • Hakkasan at MGM Grand, a multi-level club on the south Strip.

  • Marquee at The Cosmopolitan, a long-running staple in the center Strip.

  • Zouk at Resorts World, on the north Strip with a modern feel.

  • LIV at Fontainebleau, part of the newest wave of north Strip nightlife.

Many clubs also run dayclubs at their pools in warmer months. Pool season is a big part of Vegas nightlife culture, just in daylight. Check current seasons and schedules before you plan around one.

Vegas Nightlife Beyond the Clubs

Not into thumping bass? Vegas nightlife has plenty of quieter options.

  1. Lounges and cocktail bars. Many resorts have stylish lounges where you can actually hear your friends. The Cosmopolitan and Aria are good places to start.

  2. Casino strolls. Walking a few casino floors with a drink in hand is a classic Vegas move. Our guide to the best casinos in Las Vegas can help you pick a few that are close together.

  3. Free spectacles. The Bellagio fountains run in the evening, and they look even better after dark.

  4. Fremont Street. Downtown's canopy light shows, live music stages, and bars make for a lively, more casual night out.

Late-Night Eats After the Show

Every great Vegas night ends with food. Most resorts have at least one spot open late, from cafes to pizza counters. For something more memorable, locals head to Chinatown along Spring Mountain Road, where many restaurants stay open well past midnight.

If you want to plan a full night around a great meal, our guide to the best restaurants on the Las Vegas Strip is organized by zone, so it is easy to pair with your show.

Plan Your Night on the Map

The best Vegas nights are planned around one zone at a time. Pick a show, find dinner nearby, choose a lounge or club within walking distance, and save the cross-Strip rides for another night.

You can spin the 3D map to see exactly how far it is from your show to the club, and which resorts sit on the same side of the boulevard. If you are fitting shows into a short trip, our 3-day Las Vegas itinerary builds a night out into every day.

Most of all, pace yourself. Drink water, wear comfortable shoes until you change for the club, and remember the Strip is always busier and later than you expect.

What is the best show in Las Vegas?

It depends on your taste, but Cirque du Soleil's "O" at Bellagio is often called a must-see for its water stage and acrobatics. Comedy fans love Absinthe at Caesars Palace, magic fans head to Penn & Teller at the Rio, and the Sphere offers an immersive film and concert experience. Check current schedules before booking.

Is the Beatles LOVE show still in Las Vegas?

No. The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil was performed at The Mirage, which closed in July 2024 and is being rebuilt as Hard Rock Las Vegas. Other long-running Cirque shows continue on the Strip, including "O" at Bellagio, "KÀ" at MGM Grand, "Mystère" at Treasure Island, and "Michael Jackson ONE" at Mandalay Bay.

What is the dress code for Las Vegas nightclubs?

Most Las Vegas nightclubs expect upscale nightlife attire, which usually means no athletic wear, flip-flops, or baggy clothing, and closed-toe shoes for men. Dress codes vary by venue and by night, and they do change. Check the club's official site or social channels before you go so you are not turned away at the door.

How far in advance should I book Las Vegas shows?

For popular shows on weekends or holidays, booking a few weeks ahead is smart, especially if you want good seats. Weeknight shows are often easier to get closer to the date. Sphere events and big-name residencies can sell out quickly. Always buy from the official box office or the resort's site to avoid scams.

What time do Las Vegas nightclubs open?

Most big Las Vegas nightclubs get going late, typically opening late in the evening and peaking well after midnight. Many are open only certain nights of the week. Schedules vary by club and season, so check the official site for current nights and hours before you plan your evening.
