A sense of the place
The STRAT Las Vegas is the tall tower at the north end of the Strip, and at 1,149 feet (350 m) it is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the US. It opened on April 30, 1996 as the Stratosphere and was renamed The STRAT in 2020 after a renovation of about $100 million. Golden Entertainment, a local casino company, has run it since buying the property in 2017.
The tower sits at Las Vegas Boulevard and Sahara Avenue, on the same block as SAHARA Las Vegas. The resort has about 2,427 rooms, a casino, a pool deck and a theater. Most visitors come for the top: the observation decks on levels 108 and 109, a restaurant above 800 feet, and the thrill rides on the roof. Fontainebleau is a short way down the boulevard.
The STRAT suits visitors who want a lower price than the central Strip, a skyline view and a few rides. It is a long way from the center Strip, so plan on the Monorail or a car for trips south. For the order of the big resorts, see the Strip hotels in order.
What to look for
Observation decks: the indoor and outdoor decks on levels 108 and 109 look over the Strip, downtown and the mountains. Official hours are Thursday to Monday 10am to 1am and Tuesday and Wednesday 4pm to 1am, but hours can change without notice.
SkyJump: SkyJump is a controlled free-fall from the tower, listed at about 829 feet. Prices vary by day and package, so check the official site before you plan on it.
Big Shot: the Big Shot shoots riders up the tower's spire. It is listed as closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Check the ride page for today's hours and height rules.
Top of the World: the revolving restaurant is on level 106, more than 800 feet up, with an upscale dress code. It is open for dinner only, and reservations are advised.
108 Drinks: 108 Drinks is a bar on level 108 that needs Tower Experience admission.
Comedy and shows: the L.A. Comedy Club and the STRAT Theater host shows, and the official site lists Rouge, Ikons of Rock and Toast: The Best of Bread under Now Showing. Check dates before you book.

Before you go
Rides that are closed: the official thrill rides page says X-Scream is currently closed, and the Insanity arm is no longer running. Big Shot and SkyJump are the rides to plan around. Check the ride page before you go.
Observation deck tickets: the official site sends you to a ticket page and shows no price. A 2026 guide puts basic admission at about $27 to $28, with deck-plus-ride packages costing more. Check the current price before you go.
Best time to go up: arrive around sunset for both daylight and city lights. Hours are shorter on Tuesday and Wednesday, so check the schedule.
Resort fee: The STRAT charges a resort fee, but no 2026 amount is published on its own pages. Recent listings show roughly $50 to $57 a night plus tax. Check the total when you book.
Parking: parking has been paid since 2023, and the rates reported then were low compared with the central Strip. Fees may have changed, so check current rates and any perks for loyalty members.
Use the Monorail: the SAHARA station serves The STRAT. It is a short walk using a pedestrian bridge to SAHARA, then crossing Las Vegas Boulevard and Sahara Avenue, about 10 minutes. See our Las Vegas Monorail guide.
From the airport: The STRAT is in taxi Zone 3, a flat fare of $29.25 plus fees in 2026. Our airport to the Strip guide has the details.
