A sense of the place
The Venetian Las Vegas opened in May 1999 and was built by Sheldon Adelson's Las Vegas Sands as a full-scale take on Venice. Canals, a copy of the Rialto Bridge, the Doge's Palace and a 315-foot Campanile line the Strip front, and inside there is an indoor St. Mark's Square under a painted sky. Together with its sister tower, The Palazzo, which opened in 2007, the resort has about 7,100 rooms and suites and a casino of about 120,000 square feet.
It stands at 3355 S Las Vegas Blvd on the east side of the Strip, with Harrah's to the south, Wynn to the north and Treasure Island across the boulevard. Sphere sits right behind it on Sands Avenue. Las Vegas Sands sold the resort in 2022: Apollo Global Management runs it, and VICI Properties owns the real estate. A $1.5 billion refresh of about 4,000 rooms, the convention center and the sportsbook was announced in 2024.
The Venetian suits people who want a big all-suite resort in the middle of the Strip, a lot of dining and shopping under one roof, or an easy walk to a show at Sphere. It is also a convention hub, so prices and crowds jump during big trade shows. If you want a small or quiet hotel, it is not the place.
What to look for
Gondola rides: singing gondoliers row the Venetian gondolas along an outdoor canal by the Strip and an indoor canal on the shopping level. Tickets are sold in person at the resort, and prices vary by day, so check before you go.
Grand Canal Shoppes: the Grand Canal Shoppes mall covers about 875,000 square feet around the indoor canal and St. Mark's Square, with street performers and shops on the upper level.
The Palazzo: the newer tower to the north, with its own lobby, restaurants and Bazaar Meat by José Andrés, which moved here from the Sahara in September 2025.
Dining: TAO Asian Bistro, the Via Via Food Hall, Gjelina and the sushi bar Nomikai are among the options. Restaurants change often, so check what is open before you plan around one.
Shows: the Venetian Theatre hosts concerts and residencies, and Voltaire is a smaller cabaret-style room where Dita Von Teese has performed since 2024.
TAO Beach Dayclub: a rooftop dayclub that has run since 2007, open seasonally.
The Venetian Expo: a big convention center (formerly the Sands Expo) behind the resort, linked to Sphere by a pedestrian bridge.

Before you go
Resort fee: about $55 per night plus tax (around $62) at both The Venetian and The Palazzo. Check the current amount when you book.
Parking: self-parking has not been free since 2023. Hotel guests pay about $20 a day, and visitors about $20 Monday to Thursday and $25 Friday to Sunday. Valet is about $40. Nevada residents get three hours free, and Venetian Rewards Sapphire members and above park free. Check current rates.
Sphere nights: event parking rates apply in both garages during Sphere headliner shows, and the area gets busy. If you are going to a show, arrive early or come on foot.
Walking to Sphere: Sphere's standard entrance is reached by a pedestrian bridge from the Venetian side, so it is a short walk from the hotel.
Getting there: the nearest Monorail station is Harrah's / The LINQ, a short walk south. A footbridge from The Palazzo also links to Wynn. See our Las Vegas Monorail guide.
From the airport: The Venetian is in taxi Zone 3, a flat fare of $29.25 plus fees in 2026. Our airport to the Strip guide has the details.
Free things to do: walking the outdoor canal, the Rialto Bridge and the indoor St. Mark's Square costs nothing. See our free things to do in Las Vegas guide.
